It is the beginning of a new year and as we all start to look forward, it’s important to take time to reflect on all that has happened. The last few years have been very different in terms of interior design trends. It seems like every few months there is a new technique or trend that comes around and goes away just as quickly. As you plan your home decorating this year, be sure to keep these trends in mind so that you can stay ahead of the curve!
1) Oriental Rugs
Oriental rugs have been a popular home decor trend for the last year or so. They’re easy to find and come in all sorts of styles, patterns, colors, and sizes. There are some great ones out there that can fit any budget! If you want something new this year but don’t know where to start, be sure to look at some of the Oriental rugs around. It’s a great place to start.
Tip: Stay away from brightly colored rugs as they can make a room feel smaller than it is! Lighter colors will typically be better for larger spaces like a living or family room, and darker colors are best in bedrooms or other small rooms where you want the space to feel cozy really fast.
2) Monochromatic Interior Design
For those who have been considering a monochrome color scheme for their home, now is the time to go ahead and do it! From living rooms to dining rooms, all of your favorite interior design styles are available in one color. This trend has exploded recently as people everywhere start seeing how easy – yet trendy – it is to have a color scheme that sticks with one shade.
Tip: Be sure to keep your accessories varied and colorful in order to avoid feeling like you’ve worn yourself out of creativity! You can’t use all the colors at once but you should be adding some more pops of different shades here and there for an updated look every now and again.
3) Minimalist Interior Design
Minimalism is all the rage these days and we’re not surprised why. It’s a great way to avoid feeling overwhelmed by your home decorating, focusing only on what you need and want from it. A lot of people are going for simple designs that incorporate clean lines with pops of bright colors here and there for an exciting look.
Tip: Be sure to stick with one or two main colors in order for your home decorating to feel less overwhelming and more cohesive. If you have a lot of family, be careful about adding too many different hues so that everyone feels included!
4) Industrial Interior Design
Industrial design is making a comeback and we couldn’t be happier about it. There are so many new techniques that can make an industrial space feel like home. With everything from exposed piping to vintage furniture, there’s something for everyone this year when it comes down to interior design trends!
Tip: Be sure you have the right lighting for your industrial look. If you have windows in the space, make sure you get blinds for them if they are letting too much light in and ruining the mood!
These four interior design trends we’ve covered are all worth taking a look at this year. We hope you can find one that suits the style and mood of your home decorating needs!
